Happy New Year from the Houghton’s
We are so grateful for another year of joy, laughter, change, growth and experiencing God’s grace and abundance. We have included some family updates below!
Annie is back at The Field School as the Director of Community Life. After being a part of the founding team and then serving as principal for the first 5 years she stepped away in the fall of 2021. It was beyond our wildest dreams for her to be able to return to this school we love in a less all consuming role and the return has exceeded any hope we had.
After 20 years on staff with Young Life I made a leap to serve as the CEO of The Holy Post and the director of Chicago Fellowship. I loved my time with Young Life and love that our kids are still involved. I will continue to help YL in Chicagoland and beyond because I love the mission and the people. It is scary and exhilarating to be learning new things everyday. I love the mission of both of these great organizations. The Holy Post is working to help people think Christianly and live faithfully in all areas of their life and having fun while doing it. Let me know if you want to learn how you can help this mission thrive. I will give a more full update soon but the short version is that I am LOVING it. I am also loving the opportunity to serve in both informal and formal advisory roles with Together Chicago, New Community Outreach, Legacy Disciple, Progressive Manor and more.
We are all very excited that Kylie (17) has committed to going to school and playing soccer at Wheaton College. She loves pretty much everything- soccer, babysitting, friends, family, baking, reading, serving on work crew, growing in Christ. She is a delight to be with.
Nick (14) is in 8th grade and will be going to Oak Park River Forest High School next year. He continues to love violin, his sisters, basketball, friends, legos, reading and learning, Honey Rock, and the new development of babysitting every chance he gets. He is the star for the younger kids at The Field School and church.
Raelyn (12) loves to compete in everything soccer, basketball, board games, and even things most people don’t compete in. She also loves Honey Rock, reading, learning to play guitar, playing with her siblings and friends, and spending time with family.
Lucy (8) keeps up with the older kids and gives the best (and most) hugs. She loves her friends at school and in the neighborhood, plays piano, and is loving Midweek at our church.
We love our daily routine of early coffee and reading, going to work and school and playing board games nightly before going to bed early as much as we love traveling and adventure.
A day never goes by without being grateful for the way God has blessed us with the most amazing people in our life.
We love you!
