Ministry

I have been so lucky to be involved in ministry leadership for over 20 years and this experience, plus numerous books and role models, has helped to shape some ministry thoughts and philosophies. I agree with AW Tozer when he says, “What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.” Therefore doing ministry that is both right and effective is paramount. Our theology must inform our methodology and not the other way around.

“Communities of faith are facing enormous challenges in today’s rapidly changing culture, and no where are these challenges more acute than in ministry among young adults. To navigate between generational, regional, socio-political, and racial divisions requires leaders with gravity of soul and uncommon wisdom. Jon Houghton possess both. He’s not only gifted with the insight to make sense of today’s shifting cultural landscape, he also carries the skills to assemble and mobilize others to respond. His self-awareness, curiosity, and commitment to develop others are both essential, and all too rare, for effective ministry in our increasingly post-Christian society.”
